A feast of harp music!

Ailie Robertson is a musician in the broadest sense: composer, arranger, teacher, improviser and harp virtuoso. Awarded LiveIreland’s ‘Female Musician of the Year’, her synthesis of Scottish, Irish and contemporary harping technique into an individual style represents the realization of “otherwise unimagined possibilities for the Celtic harp”.
She has some of the most impressive credentials in the Scottish harp world. A 5-time National Mod Gold Medalist, she was also 1st prizewinner at the inaugural London Harp Competition, and best overall musician at the Edinburgh Competition Festival. She has represented Commun na Clarsach for Scotland at the Pan Celtic Festival in Ireland, and was awarded a scholarship from the ESU in recognition of her ‘virtuosic clarsach playing’, and was a winner of the St Albans New Roots award. She was the winner of the Live Ireland award for ‘Instrumental Cut of the Year’ for her debut album ‘First Things First’, and won the award for ‘Innovation in Traditional Music’ in the Scottish Awards for New Music.
She has performed all around the globe, and is recognised for her unique fusion of Scottish, Irish and contemporary styles. She has published numerous volumes of harp music which are used by students around the world, and has appeared at harp festivals in Europe, Canada, the USA, South America, Asia and Australia.
The performance will include classical music alongside folk tunes from around the world, including music by composers Barbara Strozzi, Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre, Sophia Dussek, Connor Chee and Catrin Finch.
