1. Open Exhibition for the Turner and People’s Choice prizes

This year’s judge is Oliver Reed. Oliver gained a foundation diploma at Leeds Collage of art in 1989 and went on to gain a Fine Arts degree with honours from Hull College of Art. He completed the Master of Fine Arts at Edinburgh in 1999 and gained a Postgraduate Certificate in HE Learning and Teaching from UAL IN 2007. He has exhibited widely and is currently Head of Arts, Centre for Open Learning, University of Edinburgh.
Oliver has kindly offered a ‘complimentary Short Course of your choice’ at the University of Edinburgh Centre for Continued Learning which will be awarded to the winner of the Turner Prize. The prize is non-transferable and must be redeemed during the Spring and Summer terms of 2025.
Timetable for the Exhibition
Thursday 19th September Hand in between 2.00pm and 4 .00pm and 7.00pm and 8.00pm. Works should be handed into room1 Penicuik Arts Association, 4 West Street Penicuik. If this is not possible contact the organisers to make alternative arrangements.
Saturday 21st September Opening of exhibition between 2.00pm and 4.00pm
Sunday 29th September Closing Ceildh. The winners of the Penicuik Turner Prize, the People’s Choice, and this year’s University of Edinburgh Prize will be announced. This is a traditional ceilidh with music, songs and recitations rather than dancing.
Sunday 29th September Collect unsold works after the ceilidh until 6.00pm. Please contact the organizer to make alternative arrangements if this is not possible, Please note the PCAA has very limited storage facilities and uncollected works will be disposed of.
