25 September to 2 October
The open art exhibition has been a feature of the Annual Arts Festival for many years. It is a marvellous platform for all artists to show their work and it is a good place to buy a piece of original art at very reasonable prices.
Every year one artist is awarded the Penicuik Turner Prize as judged by a professional artist. This year we are fortunate to have two judges: Jan Miller and Walter Simms will choose the best piece in the show. Jan and Walter studied together at Duncan of Jordanstone School of Art 1968 – 1973. They have remained friends ever since.
Jan is a local artist and teacher who is best known for her stained glass work and her paper maché figures. Remember the Bash Street Gang from 2013?
Walter has exhibited in the Art Centre on several occasions as one of the Friends in November exhibition.
People’s Choice Trophy
The people’s Choice Trophy is awarded to the favourite piece as voted for by the general public. This trophy has been won for 4 years in a row by Michel Catto. Can anybody usurp the prize this time?
Handing in work
Exhibiting with the PCAA is fun. If you would like to exhibit, well-presented art or craft works should be handed in to
4 West Street on Thursday the 23rd September between 2.00pm and 4.00pm and again between 7.00pm and 8.00pm or by arrangement with the organiser.
