EILEEN HUNTER is the special guest at this wonderful evening of Jazz Music. Eileen is an accomplished and highly respected jazz singer and instrumentalist. She was born and raised in Aberdeenshire in a musical household surrounded by the joys of traditional music and with a touch of Ella and Louis thrown in for good measure. Classically trained in voice, flute and piano she started performing at the age of 18 and over the following years her love of jazz grew influenced by Sarah Vaughn, Nina Simone and Carmen McRae. Tonight she will be performing a wonderful collection of original works and beautiful jazz standards from her new show, “The Beauty of Words”, plus songs from Eileen’s own album.
Having been based in London since 2000, Eileen enjoyed two decades of performing around the UK and in some of London’s famous jazz clubs (606 Club, Elgar Room, Pizza Express Dean St), concert halls and theatres (The Royal Albert Hall, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, Savoy Theatre, Queen Elizabeth Hall). Her debut album was launched at Ronnie Scott’s and was released by Jazz FM’s record label ‘Clifford Street Records’. She has appeared at various festivals over the years including the Aberdeen Jazz Festival and The EFG London Jazz festival.
Eileen moved to East Lothian in January 2020 with her family and loves being back in Scotland teaching and performing with some of the nation’s finest musicians.
