SUMMARY:Members' Exhibition - Submission deadline
DESCRIPTION:Community Arts Penicuik is inviting its members to exhibit at the Penicuik Storehouse\, from 1st November for 2 months. \n(Not a member? Join now by clicking here) \nYou are invited to submit up to 3 pieces\, which will be held and hung at the discretion of the CAP exhibitions team. \nSubmission is on Saturday 31st October 1.30pm-3pm\, pieces are to be handed in with the accompanying entry form. Exceptional alternative arrangements for submission can be made by emailing exhibitions.communityarts@gmail.com. \nPieces must have D rings attached for hanging\, wrapped prints and cards are welcome in addition to the artwork submitted. \nWork is limited in size to 1m x 1m.  \nEntry forms will be available at Penicuik Storehouse from 2pm Saturday 10th October\, \nor you can download an entry form by clicking here. \nPlease also download an artist pack by clicking here. \nEvery care will be taken with the artwork\, but CAP cannot be held responsible for any damages. Please arrange your own insurance. \nAll artworks must be for sale. Artworks will be available to purchase and will be given to the buyer at the time of the sale. \nThere is 30% commission\, please include this in your pricing. \nPlease email the name of your piece(s)\, medium and price (inc commission) to exhibitions.communityarts@gmail.com by the 30/10/26 \nApologies for the short deadline!

SUMMARY:Stories and Strings - an afternoon of Storytelling
DESCRIPTION:What better way to spend a November afternoon that to join international artists\, Ailie Robertson and Ruth Kirkpatrick for a spellbinding afternoon of traditional stories and harp music? Working in partnership\, they will perform a new\, varied repertoire and you can guarantee a wonderful hour of entertainment.  Both Ruth and Ailie have packed this hall with individual performances so they are bound to do so together! All welcome. \nTickets online: Please click here! \nOr from Pen-y-Coe Press\, 7 Bridge Street Penicuik (Open 12 – 4pm Tuesday-Saturday) on sale from Wednesday 24th October 2026. \nAilie Robertson from Edinburgh is widely regarded as one of Scotland’s leading traditional musicians and Celtic harpists. A five-time National Mod Gold Medalist and a BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year finalist\, Ailie also won first prize at the inaugural London Harp Competition\, was judged best overall musician at the Edinburgh Competition Festival and won the St Albans New Roots award. Her debut solo album ‘First things first’ won the ‘Live Ireland’ award for ‘Best Instrumental Cut of the Year’. She has performed and taught all over the world\, released 3 solo Celtic Harp CDs and published 7 volumes of harp sheet music. She gives performances\, teaches private lessons\, and has an online harp school. \nRuth Kirkpatrick- Ruth is one of Scotland’s leading storytellers\, and is internationally recognised as a charismatic performer and singer. Viewed as a Tradition Bearer\, she shows a deep respect for the tradition whilst building a warm\, authentic rapport with her audience.This makes her a popular guest at Festivals worldwide\, from the glaciers of Iceland to the bookshops of India. \n \n
