The café gallery is a well-known and much-loved cosy venue where you can enjoy home made vegetarian soups and scones, toasties, and delicious home baked cakes along with teas or good coffee. Some items on the menu are vegan, dairy free or gluten free – please ask the staff. Unfortunately, the cost of ingredients has risen dramatically in recent months and like all other café businesses, we have had to increase our prices. But the ambience remains highly friendly and inclusive. During fine weather, there is seating in the wee garden behind the kitchen. This re-opened after the building works on Monday 3rd July. Essential repairs to the paving have been undertaken and trip hazards greatly minimised. Please take care with the remaining wee slopes in the garden.
The café is run by the PCAA café cooperative, which is a separate entity from the PCAA. In return for rent-free space, the café coop pays their running costs, provides the PCAA with a friendly welcoming face, they deal with sales of art on the walls. They also help the PCAA by selling events tickets. We consider the café coop as the “heart” of the PCAA Arts Centre!
The café coop is currently inviting applications for membership to help run the café day to day. Full training will be given, and members receive free training for the Food Safety and Hygiene certificate. This is mandatory. Café coop members are also required to read, understand and sign a cafe cooperative agreement. Please contact us: penicuikarts.org@gmail.com.
Please note – we are having to close on Saturdays for the foreseeable future.
The café will remain open Monday to Friday.
The Saturday closure will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and hopefully may prove to be a temporary measure. We apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment caused.
PLEASE BE ASSURED THAT YOU CAN STILL EXPECT A WARM WELCOME AND GOOD QUALITY REFRESHMENT MONDAY-FRIDAY 10am-3pm
We appreciate your continued support of the Gallery café,
